Warren County will get 1,170 more coronavirus vaccine doses in the next week for residents age 65 and older, Health Services announced. The Office for the Aging started a wait list Monday and more than 600 people signed up immediately. They will be offered doses in the vaccine clinics that will be set up. Health Services learned about the new doses Tuesday and was working on plans for distribution. Although there is a tent site near Warren Center for a mass vaccine distribution program, that site is owned by the state. County officials can’t open it unless state officials allow it.

Warren County Health Services reported nine (9) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, along with seven (7) additional recoveries.
One (1) Warren County resident is hospitalized and moderately ill, unchanged from Monday.
One (1) other is moderately ill but not hospitalized.
Health Services staff are monitoring 94 active COVID-19 cases as of Monday. 92 of these cases involve mild illness. The active case number continues to hover around the numbers seen in early December, as the post-Thanksgiving spike in cases continued at that point.

Warren County Health Services is awaiting this week’s allotment of vaccine. 300 doses are expected, 100 each for essential workers, those 65-and-over and those with comorbidities.
New York State has established guidelines that require Warren County Health Services to administer its regular weekly supply of vaccines only to certain essential worker groups in Phase 1B. Clinics for those groups will be organized through eligible employers.
Warren County has been notified it will receive 100 doses for the 65-and-over population this week.

Community members in the Dorset and Manchester area will now have local access to Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic’s Spine Care program. The Spine Care program is part of the physical and medicine and rehabilitation services offered in the Dorset Campus of Rutland Regional Medical Center. Additional services at this location include ENT & Audiology and Rutland Women’s Healthcare. It focuses on patients who are suffering with acute and chronic spinal conditions as well as pain from the effects of chronic disease.

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, voted against the COVID relief package, citing several issues including the minimum wage increase, stimulus checks for undocumented immigrants and expanded unemployment benefits.
Stefanik called the bill a “partisan spending package,” filled with “pork projects, special interest giveaways, and the Far-Left’s policy wish list.” “It is unacceptable that less than 10% of the package is for public health measures, and more than half of the funding will not even be spent until 2022 or later,” she said in a statement

Two (2) Warren County residents are hospitalized, unchanged from Wednesday. Both are moderately ill.
One (1) other is moderately ill but not hospitalized.
Health Services staff are monitoring 92 active COVID-19 cases as of Thursday. 89 of these cases involve mild illness.

The Glens Falls man accused of entering the U.S. Capitol illegally on Jan. 6 was arraigned virtually in U.S. District Court on new charges of violent entry and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. James Bonet was arrested last month on a felony charge of being in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, reports the Post Star.

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon near the Warren County Municipal Center in Queensbury. The Post Star reports it accident happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Route 9 near Glen Lake Road. Marcus Blair, 20, of Hudson Falls, was driving his 2019 Kia Forte north on Route 9 when he crossed the double solid yellow lines and struck another vehicle. One of those hurt was a 1 year old child.

The Salvation Army of Glens Falls, in cooperation with the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program, is extending its contactless drive-thru food distribution to include four Mondays in March. The Post Star reports the drive-thru will be open to anyone in need from 10 a.m. to noon on March 1, 8, 15 and 22 in the Great Escape parking lot at 33 Round Pond Road in Queensbury.
